Just a day after Super Bowl 50 and already Jeremy Renner is shifting the buzz. One of the stars of the upcoming Marvel movie, Captain America: Civil War, Renner took to Twitter and Instagram to get fans excited about the May 6th release.
Renner posted the new artwork for what is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Fan reaction was positive as the comments piled up about which characters will be in this new Captain America movie and just general excitement about the date getting nearer.
Renner will co-star among what has become a familiar cast. Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Emily VanCamp, and Don Cheadle will all be suited up in their best superhero gear ready for another epic Marvel battle.
The civil war stems from the fracturing of the Avengers team. Captain America is on one side, defending the freedom of the Avengers to defend humanity without government oversight. On the other side is Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, who is in full support of government accountability.
The battle that’s bound to ensue is what has Marvel fans impatiently waiting to run to the box office. Renner even upped the anxiety on his Twitter feed by posting the 30-second “Big Game Spot” trailer.
Anthony and Joe Russo are directing this latest installment of the Avengers series. Captain America: Civil War follows the first two installments in the Captain America franchise: Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was released in 2014.
Some new characters are expected to be introduced in this upcoming film. Falcon, War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther, and Vision have all been slated to make appearances. The official release date is May 6, 2016 and, to no one’s surprise really, it’s expected that Captain America: Civil War will be a box office triumph.
