Jennifer Palmer Is from Texas

Born Jennifer Fuller, reportedly on December 25, 1976, she is the daughter of Beverly and Jim Fuller. She was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, where Ryan Palmer is from.

Jennifer and Ryan Met in High School

Both Jennifer Fuller and Ryan Palmer attended Amarillo High School. They knew each other as classmates and friends before they began dating.

After graduating from high school in 1995, Jennifer went to Texas A&M University, while Ryan went to the University of North Texas. After playing collegiate golf for a year, he transferred to Texas A&M but was a year behind Jennifer.

Romance blossomed between the Amarillo High alums the summer before Jennifer’s senior year. “I saw him out at a party or something, and then he called me and said, ‘Hey, let’s go have dinner and play some golf,’” Jennifer recalled. “I’m actually a terrible golfer, so I mainly just sat in the cart but that’s pretty much how it all began.”

It was Ryan’s smile that attracted Jennifer from the beginning. Though she didn’t share his skills on the greens, they hit it off and began dating.

Palmer graduated in 2000 and pursued his pro golf dreams while Jennifer worked on her own professional dreams.

They Have Two Children

Palmer was still in the early stages of his career when he tied the knot with Jennifer in 2002. The couple are parents to two young children, Mason (born 2007) and Madelyn (born 2009).

Though we don’t know how good the kids are at golf, Mason’s love for hockey is well known. Nonetheless, the middle school student skipped hockey practice to travel to New Orleans with his mom and watch his father play at the Zurich Classic. He was also involved in a school play, but apparently won’t be missing any performances while following his father on the greens.

Jennifer Is a Dentist

Jennifer graduated from Texas A&M in 1998, where she studied biomedical science. She later attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, getting her DDS in 2003.

She practiced in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a while and has an active license. However, her current work status is unknown.

Jennifer Was Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

2016 was a difficult year for the Palmer family. Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of that year while Ryan was competing in the RBC Canadian Open Pro-Am.

However, she convinced him to stay in Canada, and the couple attended the PGA Championship together where he finished 42nd. They returned home immediately after the championship for Jennifer’s scheduled lumpectomy and found out days later that the invasive cancer was spreading to Jennifer’s lymph nodes.

Jennifer started chemotherapy on September 19, 2016, Ryan’s 40th birthday. It was a week after Ryan was eliminated at the BMW Championship; after which, he took a hiatus to be with his wife.

He coined the hashtag #JennWillWin on social media, successfully rallying prayers and support for his wife. His fellow pro, Jordan Spieth, sported a bracelet with the hashtag in support.

While Jennifer found strength in spending time with her family, Ryan was her biggest supporter. She dubbed him “Mr. Mom” for the incredible care he gave to the kids during her illness.

Ryan got the kids ready for school, including making them breakfast, and drove them to school. Their friends brought the family food three nights a week, but Ryan enjoyed grilling some meat whenever he could. Jennifer’s mom, who lives not far from the couple, would drop by to help keep the house tidy.

Ryan and Jennifer’s friend, Jennifer Hill, accompanied her to the six rounds of chemo she underwent. The mother-of-two opted to wear cool caps during chemo or radiation to preserve her hair and ease her children’s worries.

“Mason got a little upset thinking about it,” Ryan said. “She did the hair preservation for him. So, that was pretty special.”

Jennifer was a true fighter. Even before her treatment completed in August that year, doctors said that she was almost cancer-free.

With his wife making it through, Ryan returned to the course after four months away, at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Jennifer is back to being the supportive PGA wife, traveling to New Orleans for the great food and cheering her husband all the way to victory.
