David Muir’s Bio
David Muir was born into a Syracuse, New York-based Roman Catholic family. Muir grew up in Onondaga Hill with one sibling of his own and other two step-siblings who were younger than him. It was a big family, as there were also six nieces and three nephews with whom he shared the house, along with the adults.
Muir speaks not only English but is also fluent in Spanish.
After he graduated from Central Junior-Senior High School in 1991, Muir went on to study at Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in New York. He graduated magna cum laude in Journalism with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995.
Muir went on to attend the Institute on Political Journalism sponsored by the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University and studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain with the Institute for the International Education of Students.
The journalist was awarded the Doctor of Letters degree and the Jessica Savitch Award of Distinction for Excellence in Journalism from Ithaca College after his education ended. He also received an honorary Doctor of Media degree at the Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
