Believe it or not, it’s been a year since Katie Holmes, now 34, unexpectedly filed for divorce from her older husband, 50-year-old Tom Cruise. But rather than wallow in a pool of loneliness and self-pity, Holmes is reportedly going to be celebrating her freedom with a “divorce party.”
Katie is said to have put the divorce—and the marriage for that matter—behind her, and is focusing all of her attention on raising their daughter, Suri, and reviving her acting career. The divorce bash is her way of celebrating everything that she has accomplished since her marriage to Cruise ended in July 2012. It’s also her way of showing appreciation for the friends and family who helped her through the split.
The divorce party, which will be held at The Jane hotel in Manhattan, is expected to be “enjoyable and emotional” for both the host and her guests, with Holmes wanting to “thank them for their support throughout a momentous year,” according to an insider.
What do you think: Would you consider commemorating a divorce with a party, or is it better to just leave it in the past?
