Last Thursday was one of the saddest days in the history of music. Sadness struck everywhere as soon as people found out about Prince’s death. While most of us have witnessed Prince’s legacy and his music, one way or another, the legendary musician is surely missed by everyone. As tributes among his fans and followers continue to grow with every moment, people are now getting concerned about the cause of Prince’s death. While people are still not sure why and how did Prince died, some of the latest developments are hinting to a possible drug overdose.
How Did Prince Die?
On the morning of April 21, the Carver County officials went to check on Prince’s Paisley Park estate in response to a 911 emergency call. Upon arriving, an ambulance was immediately called as Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park recording studio complex. Despite giving him emergency CPR, Prince was declared dead at 10:07 a.m. Prince’s age was 57 years at the time of his death, and he had passed away in his hometown estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Prince’s Illness before Death
Prince’s health had been facing severe problems since the start of April. The legendary funk musician had been on his Piano & A Microphone Tour since early 2016. While on his way to perform on April 7 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Prince had reportedly postponed his show due to some health issues. A statement released mentioned that Prince had been suffering fevers from a flu.
The following day, Prince had to make an emergency landing in Illinois while flying back home from Atlanta. The FAA stated that the emergency stop was made due to an “unresponsive” male passenger aboard the plane. As to whether it was Prince, the authorities still haven’t clarified. But, Prince was rushed to a hospital in Moline and his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said he had returned home safely after the treatment and was fine.
Unreleased Autopsy Reports
A clinical autopsy is a very detailed process, as we know, and the results must prove the cause of death without any doubt. An autopsy on Prince’s body was performed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, Minnesota. Dr. A. Quinn Strobl took four hours and completed the intricate procedure. However, as of today, Prince’s autopsy reports haven’t been released, and there’s still no word on Prince’s cause of death.
Did Prince Die Due to Drug Overdose?
The medical history of many celebrities has proved drug or substance overdose as the main reason for their deaths or for the deterioration of their health, which has led to death. So, speculations of Prince dying due to drug overdose began spreading like wildfire. As a gossip site published a story on Prince’s over-intake of a certain painkiller, his fans and the general public became curious to find the truth behind it.
Plus, many believe that the autopsy reports are delayed because the coroner and authorities might be running a drug test on Prince’s blood. At this moment, there’s no official information about which drug could have killed him or if Prince even suffered a drug overdose. But, these autopsy reports, which will hopefully be released sooner or later, are expected to have details that will clear all speculations on the cause of Prince’s untimely death.
