Henry Cavill ranks among the most popular actors today, after his brilliant performance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The talented British-born star kicked off his career with the film adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo, and subsequently appeared in recurring roles on TV shows such as Midsomer Murders and the Inspector Lynley Mysteries. He rose to prominence following his role as Charles Brandon in The Tudors, which made him a household name. Soon enough, Hollywood directors came knocking at his door, and Cavill was cast as Superman in 2013’s, Man of Steel. He has also appeared in movies such as Immortals, Blood Creek, The Cold Light of Day, and Whatever Works. The arrestingly handsome star reprised his role as Superman last year, and his portrayal of the fan-favorite superhero captivated the hearts of viewers everywhere. Here are Henry Cavill’s new and upcoming movies for 2017.
#1. Sand Castle (2017)
The upcoming British war drama is one of Henry Cavill’s most-anticipated releases in 2017. Brazilian director, Fernando Coimbra of The Wolf at the Door fame signed on for the project that shifted into high gear last year. The plot of Sand Castle is set against the backdrop of the Iraq War in 2003, and revolves around a machine gunner, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult.
The young soldier’s platoon is tasked with an assignment to repair a damaged water system in a dangerous town called Baqubah. Henry Cavill stars as Captain Syverson in Sand Castle, whose cast also includes Logan Marshall-Green, Tommy Flanagan, Beau Knapp, and Glen Powell. The story of Sand Castle is based on a true incident, and Henry Cavill joined the cast in 2015 as a special forces commander running the operation. We’re betting that Sand Castle will definitely be an interesting watch!

#2. Justice League (2017)
The fifth installment of the DC Extended Universe franchise, Justice League is Henry Cavill’s upcoming movie in 2017 that everyone is waiting for. Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and comprises of an all-star ensemble cast, boasting big names such as Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, and Jason Momoa.
The storyline of Justice League is set a year after the events that transpired in Batman v Superman. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Batman (Ben Affleck) get together to form a team with Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) to defeat the Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), as well as the extraterrestrial Parademons. The movie will be released before Thanksgiving this year and is already poised to be a hit, after Batman v Superman raked in over $800.0 million at the box office on a budget of $250.0 million. A sequel is also reportedly in the works and was scheduled to be released on June 14, 2019, but was pushed back due to the shooting of the upcoming Batman movie.
