The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, better known simply as Coachella, is fast approaching. One of this year’s headline acts is particularly special; not only will it be legendary hard rock band Guns N’ Roses, but it will be the first time the group’s founding members have played together since the mid-1990s as Axl Rose and Slash—who’ve publicly loathed each other for years—have finally made peace.

But of course, there’s more to Coachella than one band on one day. Here’s more info on one of the biggest music events of the year.

What is Coachella?

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual event that features multiple stages all playing live music from across multiple genres and is one of the most famous and successful music festivals in the U.S. The first official Coachella event was held in 1999, but its creation stems from a 1993 Pearl Jam concert during a time when the band was boycotting performing at locations that used Ticketmaster.

Where is Coachella?

Coachella is always held at the Empire Polo Club, a 78-acre piece of land, in Indio, California. The venue is also tied to the Pearl Jam boycott: the 1993 concert mentioned above was held at the Empire Polo Club, which confirmed the location could manage large-scale events. The Empire Polo Club is now leased out every year for the festival.

When is Coachella?

Coachella 2016 will take place over the course of two weekends in April: the 15th–17th and the 22nd–24th. The show times for each individual performance are available on the event’s official web site.

The event has always taken place in April, with the exception of the first show in 1999, which happened in October. From 2001 to 2008, Coachella occurred in late April, moving to the middle of the month in 2009 and then to two weekends in 2012.

How Do You Get Coachella Tickets?

Tickets for Coachella can be purchased on the event’s web site and its ticket purchase portal. Here, you can choose the type of pass (or passes) and how many you want to buy as well as additional items, such as parking and food, and the method of delivery. Wristbands are required for entry.

How Much Are Coachella Tickets?

Get ready to shell out for Coachella tickets, because one general admission pass costs $375.00, plus an additional $60.00 for a shuttle pass. If you want the VIP treatment, that’ll cost ya $899.00, with VIP parking going for $150.00. And if you plan to camp there, both tent and car camping cost $99.00.

How Old Do You Have to Be to Go to Coachella?
