In the wake of recent events, it couldn’t have come as a shock that Georgina Chapman was leaving her husband of 10 years, Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein has been slammed this week by numerous accusations of sexual misconduct, ranging from inappropriate touching to full out sexual assault. With the news of her leaving her husband, the question on everyone’s mind is: What does this mean for Georgina Chapman’s fashion line? Talk of her business has people wondering about what Georgina Chapman and Harvey Weinstein’s net worth could be. We know that Weinstein is $300.0 million rich, but how rich is Georgina Chapman? With a net worth of $30.0 million, we’re sure things will be okay for Chapman after leaving Weinstein. Here, we’ll look at Georgina Chapman’s career, life, and net worth.

Before Harvey Weinstein

Born in 1976, Georgina Rose Chapman grew up in Richmond, which is in south-west London. While at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, Chapman met her future business partner, Keren Craig. It was around this period that she dabbled in modeling and acting. Georgina Chapman’s movies include Shanghai Knights in 2003 and Bride and Prejudice in 2004.

In 2001, she graduated from the Wimbledon School of Art and shortly thereafter made her way into the world of costume design. Georgina Chapman’s fashion label, Marchesa, started in 2004 when she partnered with Craig.

Marchesa began as a fashion label dedicated to high-end womenswear. Since its 2004 launch, the clothing line has become very popular with the rich and famous, with actresses like Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Selena Gomez, Halle Berry, Emma Watson, and Olivia Wilde all being avid customers. Sandra Bullock even wore a Marchesa dress when she won her Oscar in 2010. Marchesa has diversified from just womenswear to also include a handbag line, wedding dresses, and even dinnerware designs in collaboration with Lennox. Currently, the company is still privately owned and financials aren’t available. But given that the lowest priced dress on their website is just over $1,300, it’s probably a safe assumption that they are doing well!

Life with Harvey

Georgina Chapman started dating Harvey Weinstein in December of 2004, following the end of his marriage with his first wife, Eve Chilton. Georgina Chapman’s wedding to Weinstein was the stuff of Hollywood legends. Taking place on a sprawling estate in Connecticut on December 15, 2007, the guest list included Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Cameron Diaz, Renée Zellweger, and Naomi Watts.

The couple welcomed their daughter, India Pearl, to the world on August 30, 2010, and later a son, Dashiell Max Robert, on April 11, 2013. Due to her successful clothing line, Georgina Chapman’s TV show appearances were on the rise as she would appear on Gossip Girl and as herself as a judge on Project Runway: All Stars (a show produced by her husband’s company).

The Accusations and the Money

With the accusations of sexual harassment and assault now coming in fast and furious, Georgina Chapman has reportedly left Harvey Weinstein. Since there has yet to be a formal deceleration of divorce intentions, their financial situation may be in flux. Before this began, the couple had the following net worths:

Harvey Weinstein $300.0 million
Georgina Chapman $30.0 million

But fortunes are swiftly changing. We currently have no knowledge of a prenuptial agreement (a fairly standard formality with people of wealth) or any other agreements that may be in place. For example, Weinstein’s net worth is from data that was occurred before his firing from The Weinstein Company. What difference this could make might depend on what type of ownership stake he had in the company, if he will maintain that stake, or if it has to be bought out by other owners. The Weinstein Company itself has had interesting and occasionally financial difficulties over the years, including loans and financial restructuring. While their films tend to garner critical acclaim, the company hasn’t had a huge box office hit in a number of years which may affect the financial standings of the company and the severance or buyout of Weinstein from the company.

Georgina Chapman’s children with Weinstein will also factor in terms of financial support. The couple owns three homes, a townhouse in the West Village of New York, a seafront home in Westport, Connecticut, and a large mansion in Los Angeles. If no prenup or agreement is in effect, there is the possibility that Chapman would gain half of Weinstein’s fortune, greatly increasing her net worth.
