Being an offspring of the world’s highest paid athlete sure has its perks—such as receiving a car worth over $100,000 for your 16th birthday, which is exactly what Mayweather gifted one of his children. And it wasn’t just any car; the former pro boxer’s son, Kouran Mayweather, received a pricey Mercedes from his famous dad on November 17.
The 38-year-old posted an image on Facebook and Instagram of the two of them standing in front of the car with the caption, “Happy birthday @KingKouran Amir Mayweather. Love you, Champ.” Fellow boxer Ishe Smith even liked the post! Meanwhile, Mayweather’s followers seemed to be very distraught. Although the picture received more than 175,000 likes in about two hours, the comments included, “It’s my birthday too Floyd,” and, “Yo Floyd Mayweather I’m your long lost brother man, my birthday is tomorrow, hell I don’t even need a Benz a BMW would be just fine [sic].” Some well-wishers also passed messages along for his son, like one follower who wrote, “You are so blessed.. I would say lucky but what your father has done has nothing to do with luck… [sic]”
This extravagant gift, however, may not come as much of a shock to some, given the father of four’s previous social media posts. The man loves to not only spend money, but also display his valuables, even if that means showing off stacks of cash. Moreover, for Kouran’s last birthday, his father got him a gold Bentley golf cart. And for his daughter Iyanna’s 14th birthday, Mayweather got her a Mercedes 55 S-Class; that’s in addition to her $120,000 G-Class. As though that was not enough, he went and bought a Rolls Royce Wraith, worth no less than $400,000, to add to her collection.
The pay-per-view boxer once told CNN in an interview that he pampers his children because he loves and cares most about them, and that he does not know what to do with the “millions and millions of dollars” he has earned. Also, given that his current net worth is a whopping $400 million, which is almost twice as much as the whole Kardashian clan, and $50 million more than even David Beckham, we fail to see any flaw in his logic.
