It is not easy getting to the finale of The Four, but Evvie McKinney did it with a fantastic rendition of the Aretha Franklin classic “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You).” The judges were impressed and called her a star ready to reach the heights of fame. McKinney comes from a musically inclined family and has been singing since the age of three. Today, she is a singer who tours all across America with her brand of soul and pop music. Watch out for her in The Four finale!
Even though there is an abundance of singing contests on TV these days, Fox’s The Four: Battle for Stardom stands apart from the rest.
The Four has a unique format where artists (known as challengers) sing in front of the judges and a live studio audience. They attempt to displace the four singers already chosen. At the end of the competition, the singer left “standing” among the four wins.
At the end of five weeks, the final four singers are: Vincint Cannady, Candice Boyd, Zhavia, and Evvie McKinney. McKinney made it to the finale of The Four on February 1, 2018, after dethroning Kendyle Paige by singing Aretha Franklin’s all-time classic, “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You).”
Judges Simply Blown Away
Both the audience and judges were blown away by McKinney’s talent and unanimously selected her over Paige, giving her the life-changing opportunity to be in the finale. Now it is up to McKinney to sing her heart out and win the competition by beating the remaining contestants.
A Musically Inclined Family
Evvie McKinney’s age is 20, and she is from Memphis, Tennessee. She calls herself “a soul, funk, pop singer.” She is the youngest of seven children, and the amazing part is that her entire family is musically inclined. Some of her siblings play musical instruments while others rap and write songs.
Gigs All Across America
McKinney has been singing since the age of three, and today she is a singer, songwriter, model, actress, and entertainer. She toured all over the United States singing her songs and covering different genres such as pop, gospel, and hip-hop.
She sung at Jools Holland’s show in London, England, and with established artists such as Darleen Love, Eddie Floyd, and Sam Moore.
A Warm Person
McKinney’s talent is not surprising as her father was a gospel singer, but he passed away some time ago. She is a warm person who loves to share her life with fans through social media.
Evvie McKinney’s Instagram account is full of pictures of herself in stylish clothes, with friends, at gigs, and outdoors.
Eyes on the Prize
There are also inspirational quotes and photos of her idols like Martin Luther King Jr. on her Instagram account. Right now, McKinney is focused on singing and giving her best at The Four finale to win the grand prize. With her talent and passion, she could very well do it, and we wish her the very best of luck!
