The finale of The Voice began Monday night (December 12) with four contestants hoping to win the title and the recording contract that comes with it. The final four are Sundance Head, Josh Gallagher, Wé McDonald, and Billy Gilman.
Billy Gilman took the stage by storm when he performed at part one of the season finale of The Voice. He wowed the audience and judges by debuting his single “Because of Me.” It comes as no surprise that Gilman has so many supporters and fans all over the world. He has impressed the judges since day one and continued doing so throughout his time on the show.
Gilman’s journey so far has not been an easy one. He started singing at the age of seven, and had to go through a lot of ups and downs in his life. From coming out as being gay, to his music career taking a backseat, Billy Gilman did not give up. He pressed on to reach this stage of his life.
Is Billy Gilman Married?
Billy Gilman is not married, however, he is in a relationship with Christopher Meyer. In 2014, Gilman came out of the closet on YouTube, after his friend and fellow singer, Ty Herndon. In his video, he revealed that because he is gay, he likely lost record deals. “I threw a showcase in Nashville, and no major label showed,” he said.
In Billy Gilman’s coming out video, he continued to say, “It’s difficult for me to make this video, not because I’m ashamed of being a gay male artist, or a gay artist or a gay person. But it’s pretty silly to know that I’m ashamed of doing this knowing that I’m in a genre and an industry that’s ashamed of me for being me.”

During an interview with Out and About Nashville, he revealed how he and his boyfriend Chris Meyer met saying, “I was in my twenties before I really started to soul-search and get to know more about me. Then when I met my boyfriend Chris [Meyer] I thought, ‘This is it,’ and that’s when I really got that love is love.” The couple post adorable photos together on their respective Instagram accounts, and call each other their “partners in crime.”
The two look happily in love with each other and Meyer has supported Gilman in every step of his life!
