The 37-year-old was a tight end in the NFL. During the 2001 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round. He played with the team for six years however, due to an injury, he missed the 2003 season. In 2004, Eric made up for lost time with 82 catches for 825 yards and two touchdowns. He had to sit out in 2005 as a result of another injury. In 2007, Eric signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.
