In the song “Kill Jay Z” off of the rapper’s latest album, 4:44, it seems as though he is addressing all of the rumors that came to light after Beyoncé released lemonade. One song has the lyrics, “You almost went Eric Benét / Let the baddest girl in the world get away / I don’t even know what else to say / N***a, never go Eric Benét / I don’t even know what you woulda done / In the future, other n***s playin’ football with your son.”

The lyrics certainly did not go down well with singer Eric Benét, as he took to Twitter to reply to Jay Z, “Hey yo #Jayz! Just so ya know, I got the baddest girl in the world as my wife….like right now!”

Born on October 15, 1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eric Benét’s age is 50 and he has four older siblings. From a very young age, Benét loved singing and would have jam sessions in his house with his siblings, where they would imitate the voices of different artists. In 1984, Benét, along with his guitarist cousin George Nash Jr., started writing his own music.

After graduating  from high school, Benét started performing with his sister Lisa and Nash with their band, Beat Crazy. A few years later, Eric and Lisa Benét became the sensational duo, Benét.

Eric Benét’s net worth is estimated to be $5.0 million. The singer achieved success early with the release of Beat Crazy’s self-titled album in 1992, which sold over 100,000 copies. In 1994, Benét launched his solo career and signed a contract with Warner Bros. Records. Two years later, he released his debut solo album, True to Myself. In 1999, Benét released his second album, A Day in the Life. Throughout his singing career, the singer released albums such as Better and Better, Hurricane, Love & Life, Lost in Time, The One, and Eric Benét. In 2002, he won for Best Original or Adapted Song for 2001’s The Brothers at the Black Reel Awards. Benét went through a lot of hardships in his personal life. His father was a detective who sadly died from cancer in 1995. Tami Marie Stauff, the mother of Benét’s daughter, passed away on April 24, 1993, after a car accident. The couple’s daughter,India, was only 15 months old at the time.

In January 2001, Benét walked down the aisle with Halle Berry. However, two years later, the couple decided to go their separate ways. Their divorce was finalized in January 2005. Benét later got married to Prince’s ex-wife, Manuela Testolini and, on December 21, 2011, the couple welcomed their daughter, Lucia Bella into the world. In July 2014, the pair’s second child, a daughter named Amoura Luna, was born.
