Kellen Winslow Jr. pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges on November 4, in a deal that’ll keep him from serving a life sentence. As the disgraced NFL pro’s retrial date neared, Winslow’s wife, Janelle Winslow, filed for divorce in August. This development came as a mild shocker, considering she was defending her husband of 13 years last year. Who is Kellen Winslow Jr.’s soon-to-be ex-wife? Our Janelle Winslow wiki has all the details on this former WAG.

Janelle Winslow Lost Her Father to Alzheimer’s

Born Enrea Janelle Guzman, she is one of three daughters born to Enrique Estrada Guzman. The former truck driver was born to a large family in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. Janelle and her sisters, Peggy Sue Larranaga and Arlene Guzman, inherited a Mexican heritage through him.

A lover of sports, music, and arts, Enrique was a fan of the St. Louis Rams. He also enjoyed his job as a truck driver.

However, he had to leave his job after 25 years when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He succumbed to his disease on September 16, 2015 at the age of 73.

Enrique’s memory is kept alive by his daughters and his eight grandchildren.

Janelle and Kellen Married in 2006

Kellen and Janelle first met when they were 14 years old and were high school sweethearts from Patrick Henry High School in San Diego. He and Janelle tied the knot on June 15, 2006. Winslow’s half-brother, Justin Winslow, died that October.

The couple welcomed their first son, Jalen Maximus Winslow, in February 2011, and a daughter, Juliana Arielle Winslow, in August 2013. During their second pregnancy, the couple had gotten into some trouble that saw them in court.

They had reportedly rented a luxury home for $9,000 a month when Janelle was pregnant with their daughter. By the end of their six-month stay, the Winslows had damaged the property, including the very expensive furnishings, according to a claim filed by the homeowners.

The owners sued the Winslows for damages to the effect of $133,000. The suit also claims they paid less than what is owed for their final month’s rent and also didn’t pay the bills for the utilities they used.

Janelle Filed for Divorce in September 2019

In June 2018, Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested on charges of kidnapping and raping two women. One of the alleged victims was a 54-year-old hitchhiker. The following month, he was charged with rape in a separate incident that reportedly happened in 2003 to an unconscious 17-year-old.  He was also charged on two counts of lewd conduct towards two other women.

Back then, Winslow’s father, Hall of Fame tight-end Kellen Winslow Sr., as well as Janelle claimed that the Winslow II was innocent. Janelle and the elder Winslow released a joint statement saying they believe he is innocent and will support him during his legal battle.

“We will always be there for him and we know the true facts will come out,” said Janelle at the time, while Kellen had denied the allegations. In the wake of the accusations, Kellen stayed in their Encinitas home as Janelle refused to speak to the media.

Jurors convicted Winslow Jr. of rape, a lewd act in public, and indecent exposure in June 2019. The jury’s deadlock on eight remaining charges, including six felonies, however, resulted in a mistrial. Winslow was scheduled for a retrial beginning on September 30.

However, ahead of Winslow’s retrial date, Janelle filed for divorce on August 30, 2019, citing irreconcilable differences. Court documents state that they had separated in December 2018. According to reports, they were seeking an amicable dissolution of marriage.
