Ellen DeGeneres, one of the most successful talk-show hosts in America right now, is all set to venture on a new journey. The 57-year-old host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show shared her true feelings about her new interior design book that is set to launch on Tuesday, October 27.
“I’m actually a little nervous about how much I’m sharing,” she revealed. The book, which will be her fourth one, is titled, Home. It will feature 304 pages of details about seven of the houses she has lived in within the past 25 years.
The Emmy-winning host said that home decor is a “genuine passion” of hers and that this was not just another business deal. While many people may be surprised with this fact about DeGeneres, she added that those who know her are aware of it. She also confessed that her home decorating dreams began when she was only 13! In fact, the comedian recently carried this love of home décor into her new show, Ellen’s Design Challenge, where furniture designers compete to win a 24-hour challenge.
What’s the basis of her passion for design? DeGeneres said that while in a room, she just wants everything she sees to bring a smile to her face. The comedian went on to explain how her wife, Portia De Rossi, is more into the art deco style than she would ever be, but their styles still harmonize, and the couple is currently in seventh heaven. The pair started dating back in 2004 and wed four years later.
While DeGeneres’ ambitions of starting an all-vegan tapas bar called “Bokado” in L.A. didn’t work out, her writing ventures have definitely been successful. Her last book, Seriously…I’m Kidding, released back in 2011, was such a hit that it got a nomination at the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Humor.
