Donald Trump made it onto TIME magazine’s annual “Person of the Year” list, but he came in third on the list, not first—that honor went to German politician and Chancellor Angela Merkel. So, in true Trump style, he’s lashing out at the publication on Twitter.

Not surprisingly, Trump believes he’s much more worthy of the title than Merkel, tweeting, “I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany [sic].”

It makes sense that Trump would attack Merkel, seeing as how they’re on opposing ends of the Syrian refugee crisis. While Trump wants to keep not only refugees, but all Muslims from entering the United States, Merkel has opened up the country to refugees from Syria. In fact, it’s one of the reasons she was chosen as this year’s winner. “By viewing the refugees as victims to be rescued rather than invaders to be repelled, the woman raised behind the Iron Curtain gambled on freedom,” wrote Nancy Gibbs, managing editor for TIME magazine.

Merkel is the first solo woman to earn the recognition in almost 30 years, but even that isn’t enough to sway Trump and his band of supporters. It looks like there are plenty of people who agree that he deserves it more, judging by the over 2,200 retweets and 3,600+ likes. But that didn’t stop the anti-Trump folks from speaking up. The very first person who commented on his tweet wrote, “@TIME won’t pick you ‘cause you’re a pathetic, weak, irrelevant, whiny bag of hatred & ignorance. You’re worst, not best [sic].”
