We know Derek Hough can move his feet from his time as one of the pros on Dancing With the Stars, but what about something with a lot less use of his legs? Well now we know, because he recently tried something a little different: bobsledding!

The two-time Primetime Emmy winner posted a video on Instagram featuring his latest endeavour; it shows him bobsledding on an Olympic track alongside his family. Hough added in the caption, “Check it off the list. #coolrunnings,” implying it was something on his personal bucket list. As for the hashtag, it references the 1993 Disney film based on the true story of the Jamaican Olympic bobsled team. The video also references the movie, with Hough and his family quoting the team’s cheer, “Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it’s bobsled time.”

More than 47,000 people liked the post, though it’s unclear how many actually got the Cool Runnings reference. “So glad that you are having a wonderful time be safe. Your family is wonderful just like you [sic],” wrote one fan; “I think you checked off your list a few things this year D-man. Can’t wait to see what 2016 brings for you [sic],” added another.

Bobsledding isn’t all that Derek Hough has been up to this winter. Skimming through his Instagram, you can see the multitalented man has been spending a lot of time with his family, catching a basketball game, snowboarding (probably more appropriate for a dancer), and, of course, seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Derek Hough was also joined by some surprise guests for the holidays: a pair of deer!

Perhaps the best recent post, though, was an inspirational one added on December 27. It starts off saying that “All humans are artists,” and ends with a message about the power of the moment and changing to meet that moment to improve as a person. We’re sure Derek Hough will have more wise words for us in 2016!
