In Demi Lovato‘s own words, she has a complicated relationship history. More than her music, her relationships have been the subject of media attention. From her boyfriends to friends, and enemies, Demi Lovato has high-profile ones.
Things are definitely looking up for Demi Lovato. Her latest album, Confident was a smash-hit, she’s making her debut as a Smurfette in the upcoming Smurfs flick and most importantly, she celebrated five years of sobriety. Even so, “Who is Demi Lovato dating?” is the much-asked question. Her relationships have been a complex web of BFFs, frenemies, boyfriends, and arch-rivals as well as a source of gossip for a while. But we’ll just focus on her dating history for now and who Demi Lovato’s boyfriend is in 2017.
Cody Linley
A pre-fame Lovato dated a boy named Jonathan Fryar in 2007. A picture that surfaced later led to rumors that she’s dating fellow Disney alum and Sky High actor, Nick Braun. But they remained just that, rumors. Her first confirmed relationship was with Cody Linley, who played the on-screen love interest of Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana.

Linley told Seventeen that he had his worst date ever with Demi. Not that she did anything bad. It was a series of unfortunate events starting with Linley picking her up two hours late because of an audition that ran behind and his car broke down. He had more car troubles when they were driving to a restaurant. But it wasn’t all that bad, “Demi was really sweet. She held the light for me and put in her car repair advice.” But Linley was all praise about Lovato which leads us to believe their breakup was amicable.
Alex DeLeon
Demi was in a brief relationship with The Cabs singer, Alex DeLeon. When they broke up is not known, but after their breakup, it was revealed they wrote songs about each other. While DeLeon’s “Crown” is supposedly about Demi, the lyrics of “Catch Me” by Lovato are dedicated to him.

Trace Cyrus
A 16-year-old Lovato became close friends with Miley Cyrus when she dated her fellow Disney alum’s brother, Trace Cyrus who was 20 at that time. Lovatics found the two flirting with each other on Twitter back in 2009. Their relationship was confirmed when the singers were spotted on a few dates including watching the Transformers movie together.

But their age difference and hectic schedules got in the way of their fledgling romance, and they broke up. However, it was an amiable split and Trace had only good things to say about her. Fans found evidence of their breakup the same way they did about their relationship, on Twitter.
Joe Jonas
This is where the “complicated” dating history officially starts. Though they claimed to be like siblings, Lovato dated the middle Jonas Brother in 2010. They first met on the set of Camp Rock, and she later toured with the Jonas Brothers for a year. When did love blossom between them? We don’t know, but it was the perfect Disney romance until it ended.
After the Jonas Brothers disbanded and Lovato checked into rehab for her drug and eating disorder issues, Joe opened up that it was her addiction issues that led to their breakup. “I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn’t happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help,” Jonas said citing Lovato and Miley Cyrus for his own struggles with drugs and alcohol.
Though they split under not-so-good circumstances, they continue to remain the best of friends. Lovato has even toured with Nick and Joe who are now solo acts. The three of them also gave Lovatics and Disney fans a glimmer of hope teasing about Camp Rock 3. Joe is also one of the reasons Lovato doesn’t get along with Taylor Swift (we all know the infamous 27-second phone breakup).
Wilmer Valderrama
After her rehab stint, Lovatics were ecstatic to know that the 24-year-old was getting back in the game. In 2010, she announced her relationship with That 70s Show star, Wilmer Valderrama. He also helped her on her road to recovery as she tweeted her thanks to all those who supported her while celebrating her third year of sobriety.

That same tweet also had a picture of her kissing Valderrama. “He’s loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my 3rd year sober… After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs and supporting my recovery. I really wouldn’t be alive today without him,” she wrote. But the love was short-lived as they made a statement on social media that they have broken up after six years of dating.
Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos
With the new year came new love! Lovato has a new boyfriend in 2017 —Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, an MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiujitsu world champion. They had briefly dated last year before she moved on to UFC champion, Luke Rockhold. But they officially rekindled their love at the start of the new year.
The couple has since displayed their love on Instagram with some cuddly posts, and she cheered for him when he won one of his big fights. The songstress was even spotted with a ring, sparking engagement rumors, but that quickly died down. What is confirmed is that Lovato’s friend-turned-boyfriend-turned-BFF Joe Jonas approves of Bomba.
