Gerald McRaney’s age is 70, and he was born on August 19, 1947. The award-winning actor hails from Collins, Mississippi.
His parents, Clyde and Edna McRaney, moved the family around the state a lot, as his father was a realtor and contractor. He has a sister, Ann McRaney Simpson, and a brother, Buddy McRaney.
The Mississippi native has Scottish and Choctaw lineages. He worked in the Louisiana oil fields before becoming an actor.
McRaney’s interest in acting came when he injured his knee after playing football in junior high school. The injury resulted in him joining the drama club and becoming a very good actor. The success he found in school trickled into his college years.

In 1969, he played a role in the low budget slasher film, Night of Bloody Horror. That year, McRaney got his first TV role in an episode of Night Gallery, after which he began getting more and more roles.
