With all the plot twists blowing our minds, it’s hard to keep track of all the actors coming and going from our favorite daytime soaps. We’ve, however, made it easier for you to prepare yourself for what’s to come. This week, ABC’s General Hospital and CBS’ The Young and The Restless have announced major casting news. What kinds of developments will they bring to the storyline? Here’s the latest from the world of daytime television.

Finola Hughes Back on GH Set after Annual Vacation

Back on May 30, it was announced that Finola Hughes, who portrays Anna Devane on General Hospital, would temporarily go off-screen for the summer. The actress takes a well-deserved break from filming every year.

Hughes is now back in Port Charles, as she updated her Instagram fans with a picture of her and her all-girl crew on the GH set on August 8. Now that Anne’s back, fans can’t help but speculate if she’ll get back together with Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).

Christian Newman Grows a Little on Y&R

The grandson of Victor Newman and Adam’s son with Sage, Christian Newman, was previously played by twin babies Jamie and Alister Tobias. Christian is now slightly older and played by a child actor, Alex Wilson.

Previously, Adam and Nick Newman fought for custody of Christian after Sage died. Nick continued to raise Christian after Adam presumably died. But now Adam is back, after Mark Grossman was cast in the role in March 2019. And, of course, he wants his son back.

A court has given custody of the child to Victoria, with supervised visitations for both Adam and Nick. However, the two are determined to prove they deserve to be Christian’s father.

Joseph C. Phillips Will Return to Y&R

Cosby Show alum Joseph C. Phillips made his first appearance in Genoa City as Agent Jed Paulson in 2008. The role was just a three-episode run.

However, speculation arose in July that Phillips is reprising his role as Jed. While it’s confirmed that he is indeed returning to Genoa City, it will, however, be as a different character.

Phillips will portray a judge in connection to Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan), Adam’s ex who had left town with her son, Connor. Now that we know Phillips is involved in Chelsea’s storyline, fans speculate Y&R is setting the ground for her return, too.

Mark Your Calendars for Brittany Hodges’ Return to Y&R

Y&R writers are on a streak of bringing back fan-favorite characters, including Lauren Woodland’s Brittany Hodges. Woodland was the second actress cast in the role she’s played on and off since 2000 and for a brief period in 2018.

Now Hodges will return, and it’s speculated she’ll represent Nick in the legal battle for Christian’s custody. Her episode will reportedly air on August 27.
