The most famous woman of NASCAR, Danica Patrick, is trading in her signature green car for something a little snazzier—bright pink to be exact—but it’s for a good cause.
Patrick took to Twitter to share a picture of her new set of wheels in the shop. It features a vivid pink coat of paint over the whole hood and along the sides of the car. The makeover is to help raise awareness about breast cancer. Along with the photo, Patrick added the caption, “Check out my PINK @GoDaddy Chevy to help #PutTheBrakesOnBreastCancer.”
Danica Patrick has been going pink for the past few years to participate in the “Put the Brakes on Breast Cancer” campaign in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If this year is like the previous ones, Patrick will be driving the car in her upcoming races.
In the past, Patrick has said that changing her car color is the perfect way to reach out to NASCAR fans personally. “I think the pink car will pop and attract attention for a good cause,” Patrick said back in 2012. “We all know someone who has been impacted by this disease and NASCAR fans are so passionate, I know they’ll step up to help the cause.”
Patrick also revealed last year that she’s become even more passionate about the cause after a close friend of hers underwent a double mastectomy upon discovering that she had the breast cancer gene. Although her friend was able to hopefully avoid getting diagnosed with breast cancer, Patrick says the scare “hit close to home.”
