Here is everything you need to know about a few of the comedians featured in Unprotected Sets before the docuseries premieres on Epix!

Ali Sultan

Ali Sultan moved from Yemen to the U.S. when he was 15. His first introduction to comedy was watching Conan O’Brien on late night TV and he was immediately inspired to become a stand-up comedian.

The Minneapolis-based comic overcame language barriers to become the first professional Yemeni-American comedian to be featured on TV. He appeared on Kevin Hart’s Comedy Central show, Hart of the City.

Still shot from my half hour special I shot. Will be avail soon. I am calling it: Straight Outta Yemen ??

Sultan created his on-stage persona named Joe Freedom, and he earned a bit of fame for the “over-the-top Americanized” character. He has a podcast, Stories with My Muslim Mom, and has been featured at multiple comedy events.

He won the Acme Comedy Company’s Funniest Person in the Twin Cities amateur contest and Funniest Person with a Day Job from Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy. He was also listed as one of the Top Five Local Comics to watch in 2017 by The Growler magazine.

Kasaun Wilson

This New Jersey native acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from Howard University and set about a career in comedy and acting.

Wilson toured all over the country to perform stand-up. He was even featured in Last Comic Standing during the 2015 season, when Wanda Sykes revived the comedy show.

He has not only become popular in comedy, but he’s also won DC Improv’s Funniest College Student competition when he represented Howard University and Comedy Kumite in 2015.

Wilson opened for some of this country’s greatest acts, including Grammy Award winner Tye Tribbett, Greg Proops (Whose Line is it Anyway?), Gary Owen (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne), and he was a featured opener for Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle’s Show).

He also acted in theater and was featured in the Washington Post for his theatrical work in Sanctified at the Lincoln Theater and Standing on the Edge at the DC Black Theatre Festival.

Wilson has performed at some of America’s greatest venues, including DC Improv, UniverSoul Circus, Ohio State University, Stand Up NY, and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, California.

Rob Christensen

Rob Christensen is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He now lives in Los Angeles, California.

His content comes from his days as an illegal graffiti artist, a freestyle rapper and raver, and his time as a U.S. Air Force Sergeant. It’s all comedy gold!

Christensen’s best sets include his appearance on Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening and Adam DeVines’s House Party.

However, Roseanne Barr didn’t enjoy his stand-up on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and told him, “I didn’t like you from the moment I saw you.” Ouch!

Regardless of what Roseanne thinks, Rob Christensen is now considered one of the best touring comedians on the scene.

Daniel Webb

Texas-native Daniel Webb is a musician, artist, and comedian based in Los Angeles.

He first caught the Internet’s attention when then-President Barack Obama dropped by a Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Texas while Webb was a part-time employee there. Webb cracked up Obama with his jokes and even earned a fist-bump from the president!

He was featured at Comedy Central’s UP NEXT in 2018 and will have upcoming stand-up appearances on Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.

Don’t miss these mind-blowing young comedians when Wanda Sykes’ Unprotected Sets premieres on October 5, 2018 at 11:00 p.m. EST on Epix!
