Things might be getting a little ugly between Clint Eastwood, 83, and his soon-to-be ex-wife, 48-year-old Dina Ruiz. The celebrity couple was married for 17 years before Ruiz officially filed for divorce in October 2013, following a brief separation. In her divorce papers, Ruiz cited “irreconcilable differences,” although her decision may have had a lot to do with the fact that Eastwood had started seeing another younger woman.
As a result of their divorce, Ruiz requested that her ex-husband pay her legal fees, as well as spousal support. She’s also seeking full physical custody of the celebrity couple’s 16-year-old daughter. Here’s where things get messy. Eastwood has filed divorce papers of his own, asking the judge to flat-out deny Ruiz’s request for spousal support because, thanks to the prenup they signed, he’s not obligated to pay her anything in that regard. He’s also requesting to deny his ex-wife sole custody of their daughter—he’s fighting for joint physical custody.
Although the celebrity couple is said to have ended their marriage amicably, this could definitely put a kink in their plans to keep the divorce proceedings civilized.
