It’s finally here! As promised, Chris Rock is hitting the road as he prepares for his first major comedy tour in over nine years!
Chris Rock let fans know of his plans to embark on the tour via a Facebook Live video in December 2016 saying, “Tonight, I am announcing that I, Chris Rock, am going on tour!” Rock also made a promise to fans that the tour would include “brand new material,” which was definitely a relief as many have already seen much of his classic stand-up routines. The Chris Rock Total Blackout Stand-Up Comedy tour 2017 has been dubbed “The Blackout Tour” because of Chris Rock’s famous pre-Oscars Tweet alluding to a potential blackout at last year’s Oscars when he was hosting.
This morning, Chris Rock’s Instagram photo teased fans of his excitement for the first show of the tour, which will take place tonight in Durham, North Carolina. The image posted was that of the grand theater, from the view of where Rock will likely be standing tonight at his show. He captioned it, “In the words of the great Russell Westbrook, “I’m coming!” #TotalBlackOutTour #RockDurham#DPac”
