Celine Dion’s 73-year-old husband, René Angélil, wishes to die in her arms. The Canadian singer’s partner (and manager) of 21 years has been battling throat cancer for the past two years. It is the second time Angélil is fighting the disease, but things are not looking great this time around. However, Dion has proved her love by truly sticking with her older husband in sickness and in health, and intends to do so until the very end.

Dion claims that they have been asking doctors how long Angélil has left, but all in vain, as doctors are unable to pinpoint exactly how long it will take for the cancer to take over. But they know it’s coming, so over the last few months, Dion has had several emotional conversations with her husband.

She recalled one conversation in particular where he revealed his last wish to her. The superstar said that she asked Angélil to talk to her, as she understood where he was coming from and that he was scared. That’s when he admitted, “I want to die in your arms.”

Dion, 47, said she readily agreed and promised to be there for him. However, he then went on to instruct her to return for her residency in Las Vegas, despite the fact that it ”freaked” him out when she was away.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer also told USA Today that her former manager has been the “leader of the band” all her life and wants her to continue doing what she loves. Dion also explained having gotten over her grief this past year, and is now focusing her priorities on being strong for her husband.

The celebrity couple has been blissfully married since 1994 and have three sons together, four-year-old twins Eddy and René-Charles, and 14-year-old Nelson.
