New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony is an eight-time NBA All-Star and a three-time Olympic gold medalist—needless to say, he’s an elite basketball player. And it looks like his eight-year-old son is following in his famous father’s footsteps.
Anthony’s wife, Alani “La La” Anthony, shared a sweet side-by-side picture on Twitter of their son, Kiyan. The picture on the left is of Kiyan at two years old, being carried on the court and holding a basketball. The picture on the right is Kiyan at age eight wearing medals around his neck and carrying a huge basketball trophy. The newer photo was originally taken back in August of this year after the second-grader’s team, the New York Gauchos, dominated a national tournament against other teams with players who were not only older, but much bigger too.
In the caption for the Twitter photo, his proud mother wrote, “Six years later and he’s fast on his dad’s heels! Getting so tall, so fast!!”
Many of La La Anthony’s posts are dedicated to the celebrity parents’ son, particularly his impressive skills with a basketball. Last week for instance, she shared a clip of Kiyan dribbling and he’s more coordinated than most grown adults. Then again when your father is a leading NBA All-Star, the possibilities are endless. It’s safe to say that this kid is being groomed for a successful career in the spotlight.
But he’ll have some competition, because LeBron James’ 10-year-old son is just as good on the court. In fact, last year he was reportedly ranked as one of the country’s best in his age group. It certainly looks like the future of basketball is in good hands!
