On the heels of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s split, another surprising celebrity couple is pulling the plug on their marriage. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert released a statement on Monday informing the world about their divorce: “This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.”
America’s power country couple are no more. Shelton, 39, and Lambert, 31, got hitched in May 2011 and have a prenup with no children together, which make things easier for them.
The divorce is said to have been filed in Oklahoma by Shelton. All their financial assets have been divided—Shelton will take over their Oklahoma ranch while Lambert gets to take the Nashville family home. Also, Lambert is said to be moving her animals (horses, a llama, and a camel) off the ranch.
This is still a huge surprise for all the fans, given the couple’s recent interview with E! News about how they make their relationship work. Back in April, the songstress said, “We make sure that our time together really matters, so when we’re apart, it’s not really a big deal.”
Shelton was still with his former wife, Kaynette Williams, when he met Miranda Lambert in 2005 at an award function. The couple declared their love soon after when they sang a duet of the song, “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma.”
In a shocking turn of events, sources have reportedly told TMZ that Blake Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert because he suspected that his wife was having an affair. However, The New York Post is reporting that the divorce was sparked by busy schedules and differing views on children.
