In the wake of the Time’s Up initiative, many are speaking up about their experiences of sexual abuse and harassment. Bella Thorne recently took to social media and revealed that she too, was sexually abused.
On Sunday, Bella Thorne expressed her support for the Time’s Up initiative through an Instagram post, where she told fans that she was sexually abused as a child. She said, “I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14..when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it. All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again. Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did. But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated. #timesup [sic].”
Bella Thorne and the Time’s Up Movement
The Time’s Up initiative started to financially and emotionally support those who have experienced sexual harassment or abuse, while promoting gender and racial equality in every industry. At the 2018 Golden Globes, nearly every celebrity wore black to promote the movement and show support to the victims of sexual abuse and harassment.
Last month, a tweet directed at Thorne read, “What did Disney do to this girl?! I think she was molested.” The actress replied saying, “Yeah I was. So it wasn’t Disney,” adding, “The world can be a sick place sometimes.”

Getting into the Details
Thorne elaborated about her horrific experience by tweeting, “I never knew what was right or wrong growing up..I didn’t know the person sneaking into my bed room at night was a bad person. #timesup [sic].” She has not provided details about who her alleged abuser is, or how she knew him.
She tweeted, “Fact that I have to explain myself. Trust me I knew him I saw his f*****gface every single time don’t think I’ll ever forget a part of him [sic].”
The actress also posted a video on her Instagram Story, saying that she was proud of her fans who came out with their personal stories, asking them to stay strong, and expressing her love for them.
