George Clooney, 54, and his younger wife, 37-year-old Amal Alamuddin, have been married for less than a year, but the celebrity couple is already rumored to be trying for a baby. “They decided that it would be the right time,” an insider told Us Weekly, adding that Alamuddin, a successful human rights lawyer, has only been working on current causes and will not be taking on anything new.
If they were to expect in the next year, it would align perfectly with the completion of their $15 million, 9,000-square foot, 17th century home in the London countryside. In fact, the house is already reportedly being renovated to include a full nursery, according to another source; in addition to nine other bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
A third insider also added that the couple is so serious about starting a family that they recently visited a fertility center. Part of the push is said to stem from the fact that Clooney, once known as Hollywood’s hottest bachelor, adores his friends’ children and is finally ready for his own. “George is ready for this step and he thinks that Amal will be a great mother,” said the source.
If this news is true, it makes sense that George Clooney wants to offload some of his luxurious properties around the globe. Earlier this month, it was rumored that he was thinking of selling his famous villa in Lake Como, Italy. And his lavish beach retreat in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico) is now officially on the market as well. If Clooney and Alamuddin are going to start a family, his priorities will probably change significantly from European mansions and beach villas.
