The word on the street is that rapper Drake and Nicki Minaj are friends again, after a two-year feud. They met and called a truce due to the alleged Nicki Minaj-Meek Mill split. Did Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj split? That’s what it looks like, otherwise why else would Drake and Minaj be hanging out? After all, Drake and Mill have trashed each other publicly and are not on good terms. Friends No More
Minaj and Drake are both active musicians and used to collaborate in the past. They have produced hits like “Make Me Proud,” “Moment 4 Life,” “Champion,” “Only,” “Up All Night,” and “Truffle Butter.” They had a healthy working relationship but it turned sour when a feud began between Drake and Meek Mill. Mill called Drake out in July 2015, alleging that Drake was a hater for not tweeting his support of Mill’s, Dreams Worth More Than Money.

A Bitter Fight
Mill accused Drake of not writing his own lyrics and cited his song “R.I.C.O.” as an example. At the time, Mill said, “Stop comparing Drake to me too. He don’t write his own raps. That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!” Drake hit back immediately, releasing several tracks taunting Mill and his music. Drake sang about why he thought Mill’s record sales were so low. At the time, Nicki Minaj was dating Meek Mill, so she got caught in the crossfire. Drake poked fun at Mill, accusing him of living in his girlfriend’s shadow in his song “Back to Back,” where Drake raps, “Is that a world tour/ Or your girl’s tour?”

Going Their Own Ways
After the bitter feud between Drake and Mill, Minaj and Drake no longer had a personal or professional relationship. Fans of both artists were seriously disappointed that the pair were not collaborating, and giving them the music they had come to love. The distance between Drake and Minaj grew, but there was still hope for a reconciliation. In fact, Drake spoke about Minaj on a radio show in April 2016 saying, “I don’t really talk to Nicki. Another person I have a lot of love for.”
Crash and Burn
Then, things between Minaj and Mill reportedly went bad in December 2016. The couple had gone to Turks and Caicos to celebrate Minaj’s birthday, and it is alleged that once they arrived, Mill spent all his time with his friends instead of Minaj. A source said, “She went nuts on him because he was hanging out with friends and not paying attention to her.” Both Minaj and Mill had bitter arguments, and an angry Mill left the island without his girlfriend. This only angered Minaj further, and she reportedly ended their relationship right there and then.
A Nervous Reunion
When Drake found out that Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj had broken up, he wasted no time in contacting Minaj. He reportedly called up Young Money’s president and asked, “Why didn’t you tell me the family is back?” A meeting was quickly arranged, and Drake and Minaj met with Young Money founder, Lil’ Wayne. Though they haven’t become as close as they were just yet, there seemed to be no bitterness between the two. Drake and Minaj seem to have buried the hatchet, as Drake said, “She dealt with me how I would expect her to – with class. I always have respect and love for her. Unfortunately, we haven’t spoke.”

Now that Drake and Minaj are back on good terms, there is excitement about the potential of a new collaboration. The duo has given several hits in the past and now have the opportunity to work together again.
