A Singer from the Beginning
Maddie Poppe and her family hail from Iowa. The American Idol contender has been singing since she was a little girl.
Her childhood idol was Colbie Caillat. And she even got to sing with her on stage in the duets round.

Before American Idol
Maddie Poppe was born on December 5, 1997, and grew up in Clarksville, Iowa with her two sisters, Hannah and Emma. Their parents, Tonya and Trent Poppe, have been very supportive of their three children.
Trent is also a musician and performs in bands. Hannah is an ER nurse, and Emma is in high school.
Maddie graduated from Iowa Central Community College in 2016.
She has been naturally talented in singing since she was little. She can play the keyboard, ukulele, and the guitar, and her genre is indie pop and country.
Before American Idol, the 20-year-old failed an audition for The Voice! Her father was then persistent that she try out for American Idol when the show returned.

Poppe has been a great contestant from the start. And judge Katy Perry also announced that she was one of her favorites on the show this season.
The American Idol contestant has been complimented for being unique and bringing something different to the stage every time she performed.
In an interview, she said that at first, she was afraid that the people might not like the kind of songs she sang, because it wasn’t the most popular style in music today.
But Poppe is glad that her fans appreciated her singing. And they came out in thousands to support her.
Maddie Poppe’s audition round is considered to be one of her most memorable performances on American Idol when she sang, “Rainbow Connection.” That and her duet with Colbie Caillat, which had people in awe of her sweet, soothing vocals.
Idol fans had been rooting for Poppe to win the show despite tough contenders like Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, and Caleb Hutchinson.
But in the end, it all came down to Maddie Poppe and Caleb Hutchinson. But before the finale, Idol host Ryan Seacrest interviewed the two finalists about their relationship.
Hutchinson announced that they were in fact dating and that Poppe was his best friend along with being his girlfriend!
The duo then faced the final round together, when it was announced that Maddie Poppe won the show.
In celebration of Poppe’s win, boyfriend Hutchinson took to Instagram and posted, “My Girlfriend won American Idol!!! No one deserved it more than you babe. I am honored to know you and even more honored to call you mine. Don’t forget about me. I love you.”
The Release of Maddie Poppe’s Album
In 2016, the songstress released a debut album titled, Songs from the Basement. So, she already had a fan following before the show.

On May 15, 2018, the Mayor of Clarksville, Val Swinton, proclaimed the day to be “Maddie Poppe Day,” in honor of her putting Clarksville on the charts on such a huge scale!
During her hometown visit, she was showered with gifts from the local business owners. She also got to be a part of a parade down Main Street, which was all done to celebrate her!
Poppe then performed on stage at the Butler County Fairgrounds. Thousands of fans and supporters had gathered to watch her perform for the first time in front of such a massive crowd.
Her journey from stagehand to main singer has been great, and Poppe is grateful for all her fans, friends, and family members. And her town shows her great love, too!
In fact, a farm in Iowa was plowed with the words, “Iowa Loves Maddie.” Matt Rottler was the man behind the huge welcome, explaining that due to her newfound fame, Poppe took her roots with her and put Iowa (and its small counties) on the map!
