Alicia Vikander’s boyfriend is widely loved and is also a talented performer! For details about Alicia Vikander’s movies, personal life, and Alicia Vikander’s Oscar, we’ve got the facts you need to know.

She was Raised in a Single-Parent Home

Alicia Vikander was born October 3, 1998 and was raised in Gothenburg, Sweden to stage actress, Maria (Fahl) Vikander and Svante Vikander, a psychiatrist. Her father left when she was only two months old, leaving her mother to raise her alone. She has five half-siblings on her father’s side, and according to an interview with The Telegraph UK, the actress got the best of both worlds from being surrounded by her father’s big family (whom she visited every second week), and being raised as an only child by her mother. During the times her mother could not find a babysitter, she would bring Vikander to the theatre and she would fall asleep in the wings.

She Began Acting at an Early Age

The love for the Arts was instilled in Vikander from childhood. When she was only seven years old, she starred in a production at The Göteborg Opera, and performed in the play for over three years. She also appeared in several musicals at the Opera, including The Sound of Music and Les Misérables. Not only did Vikander know how to act, she also trained in ballet from the age of nine (in 1998), until 2004. When she was 15, she moved from her hometown to train in Stockholm, where she lived alone. At this time, she was able to travel across the globe for summer courses. When Vikander was 16, she nearly left school to fully pursue her acting career.

She’s Decorated with Awards

Vikander made her film debut in Pure (2009) as Katarina. Her other films include Anna Karenina (2012), Hotel (2013), Testament of Youth (2014), Ex Machina (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), The Danish Girl (2015), Jason Bourne (2016), and The Light Between Oceans (2016), where she met her co-star and boyfriend, Michael Fassbender.

In 2010, for her performance in Pure, Vikander received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She later received the Shooting Stars Award from the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2012, she was nominated for Best Actress at the Bodil Awards and the Robert Award for her role in A Royal Affair (2012). Also in 2012, she received international recognition for her first English language role in Anna Karenina. In 2014, she was nominated at the British Independent Film Awards, and in 2015 received awards for Best Supporting Actress at the Chicago Film Critics Association, Toronto Film Critics Association, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and the Vancouver Film Critics Circle. Most recently, Vikander earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in The Danish Girl.

She’s in Love with her Co-Star

Vikander met co-star, Michael Fassbender in December 2014 on the set of The Light Between Oceans. The stars fell in love and have been together ever since. Unlike many celebrities who flaunt their relationships on social media, these two have remained relatively private. Although they maintain exclusivity of their relationship, they have chosen not to reveal too much. According to Vougue, the couple is fond of each other’s talent, yet have never walked the red carpet together. They share the most intensely romantic stares, and are absolutely smitten about each other! Isn’t that the sweetest thing?
