Alexis Gardner Is from Georgia
Born in July 1992, Alexis Deviyan Gardner is reportedly a native of Thomasville, Georgia. She has lived in South Dakota and also lived in Miami, Florida when her then-boyfriend, Hassan Whiteside, signed with the NBA team Miami Heat.
She reportedly graduated in 2009 from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, where she played basketball. She later studied business at Marshall University in West Virginia before graduating in 2013.

Gardner Is an Aspiring Actress
Gardner studied acting at the International School of Screen Acting in London, as per her Facebook page. She’s now in Los Angeles pursuing her dreams to become an actress. She’s simultaneously working as a barista at a Starbucks.

She Dated Hassan Whiteside
According to her Facebook, Gardner first met Hassan Whiteside in 2009, back when he, too, was a student at Marshall University. In 2016, Whiteside was reported to have been dating an Alexis Deviyan, the name she goes by on social media.

Alexis reportedly went with Hassan wherever his career took him during their relationship. She moved with him to China when he played in the Chinese NBL, and also to Miami when he signed with his current team in 2014.
They later broke up, and it appears it was a bitter split. Gardner reportedly hired Michael Avenatti to settle a personal dispute between her and Whiteside. That was a year before Avenatti would be hired by adult film actress, Stormy Daniels.
Avenatti Reportedly Embezzled Money from Whiteside and Gardner
The nature of the dispute for which Gardner hired Michael Avenatti has not been shared. However, it appears to have cost Whiteside a big sum.
According to reports, Avenatti negotiated a $3.0 million settlement with Whiteside on behalf of Gardner. The basketball player reportedly made a $2.75 million first payment, apparently none the wiser that his ex wasn’t going to see all the money.
Avenatti was entitled to $1.0 million in legal fees from the amount paid by Whiteside. However, he allegedly embezzled all of the money save for the $194,000 Gardner received in multiple transfers. The attorney reportedly used Gardner’s settlement money towards a private jet.
Whiteside and Gardner previously released a statement to the LA Times that read, “We entered into a mutually agreed upon settlement more than two years ago following the end of our relationship; a settlement that reflected Alexis’ investment of time and support over a number of years as Hassan pursued a career in the NBA.”
Avenatti stands accused of withholding client funds and misrepresenting Whiteside’s settlement as monthly installments. He reportedly transferred money from Whiteside to a close associate, Filippo Marchino, and allegedly instructed him to use the money to invest in a private jet. Marchino now represents Gardner and is helping her retrieve the money embezzled by Avenatti.
Indictment documents by a federal grand jury and bank records allege Avenatti embezzled money out of at least five clients, including Gardner. Among the other victims are Geoffrey Ernest Johnson, a mentally ill paraplegic man on disability, and Michelle Phan, a YouTube makeup guru. Avenatti has so far denied the charges.
