McCain Is an Actress and Producer
Mechelle made her acting debut in the 2003 film, The Fighting Temptations, which starred Cuba Gooding Jr., Beyonce, and Mike Epps. From there, she went on to appear in TV shows and short films.
One of her earliest major roles was in the 2011 flick 35 and Ticking, which starred Mike’s rival, Kevin Hart. She also starred in TV shows like Behind the Scenes and Misadventures of a Hollywood Housewife.
She hasn’t had any acting roles since 2015, but Mechelle has also diversified into producing and writing. She co-wrote, produced, and starred in Basketball Wives the Movie (trailer) Spoof in 2012 and also produced some of Mike’s comedy specials.

McCain and Epps Have Two Daughters
In The Fighting Temptations, McCain had a non-speaking role as Mike Epps’ character’s girlfriend. They began dating for real after working on that movie, and tied the knot in July 2006, when Mechelle was 20.
They are parents to two girls, Moriah (born 2005) and Maddie (born 2007). Epps is father to a total of four daughters, including his two eldest, Bria and Makayla.

These days, Mechelle is active with her philanthropy. She founded the Kids Love and Health Foundation, to help youth all over the world improve their health and wellness. It’s a cause close to her heart as one of her daughters has asthma.
They Divorced in 2017
After a decade of marriage, and even longer together, Mechelle and Mike Epps divorced in September 2017. And their separation wasn’t without drama, either. Many revelations came from McCain’s side during the divorce proceedings.
Epps had filed for divorce in January 2016, citing “irreconcilable difference.” Mechelle claimed she had been blindsided when he decided to move forward with divorce proceedings.

While papers filed by her claimed they had been separated since February 2016, Epps claimed they had separated in June 2015. Mechelle stated she didn’t know they had been separated before January 2016.
She also believed he had been unfaithful while they were still married. “I think when I saw him walking up and down the streets with a mysterious girl, I think that did it,” she said.
In 2015, Epps landed in hot water when he flirted with a woman on Twitter. Mechelle interrupted that interaction with a tweet of her own just as Epps was trying to take the conversation to the DMs.
Epps was ordered to pay $25,000 a month to Mechelle as spousal support for a six-year period. He would also pay $15,000 as child support and additionally towards the tuition fees of his two youngest daughters.
Even their massive fleet of cars was divided between them, and they split the profits from the sale of their Encino home.
After her divorce, Mechelle ceremoniously went back to her maiden name during one of her first interviews after the divorce and on social media.
