Are Nell and Eric Leaving “NCIS: Los Angeles”? What Happened? Last Season of NCIS:LA?

The latest episode of NCIS: Los Angeles has a lot of fans biting their nails anxiously before the next one airs on Sunday, April 14. The storyline surrounding fan-favorite couple Nell and Eric in the March 31 episode raised speculation that they might be leaving the NCIS team. Are Renée Felice Smith and Barrett Foa, who play them, leaving NCIS or is there something new in store for Nell and Eric? Here’s what went down with our favorite couple.

What Happened to Nell and Eric on NCIS: LA?

Nell (Renée Felice Smith) and Eric (Barrett Foa) are one of the long-running romances of NCIS: LA, second in legendary status to Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen). And we don’t want to see them go anywhere, tbh. But last week, they threw an exit shocker at their fans.

Early in season 10, Nell and Eric moved in together and we thought we’d be seeing more of this funny and adorable couple. In the March 31 episode, though, the show hinted that Eric and Nell might be leaving Callen (Chris O’Donnell ) and the team.

Eric gets a call during episode 19, called “Searching,” with a job offer in San Francisco. Now, the team’s resident tech guy always dreamed of working for a Silicon Valley company before joining NCIS. So the offer is too tempting to pass up.

He and Nell decide to head to San Francisco to check out what the new job entails before making any big decision. While the decision is still up in the air, it’s revealed there’s something calling Nell to San Francisco, too.

She has a private chat with Eric where she tells him her mother is moving to San Francisco to get treatment for heart disease. Nell is not only considering relocating to be with her mother, but also feels that she can’t balance her job at NCIS and her mother’s illness.

At the end of the episode, Nell and Eric are in San Francisco for Eric’s interview. They find out that his job is lucrative enough for Nell to quit her job and focus on taking care of her mother.

And that’s where it ends.

Their decision wasn’t revealed, but their individual circumstances suggest that Nell and Eric will quit NCIS to move to San Francisco. And fans are not taking it well.

Are Renée Felice Smith and Barrett Foa Leaving NCIS: LA?

Since the CBS writers set up the possible departure of Nell and Eric from NCIS, viewers have been wondering if they’ll be able to see their favorite couple after season 10. The NCIS fanbase on social media is in a frenzy over the scenario and are speculating that the actors who play them are leaving the show.

There is, however, no confirmation from CBS, or Smith and Foa themselves, that it’s the end for Nell and Eric on the show. In the past, the network has announced the departures of actors from shows, such as Pauley Perrette from NCIS and Annabelle Attanasio from Bull.

Smith and Foa’s Instagram and Twitter activity doesn’t indicate a possible exit, either. In fact, the two actors are still spreading the NeRic love on Instagram with cute behind-the-scenes clips from the show.

It also can’t be said that the San Francisco storyline is an abrupt one. There’s no report that the network fired either actor, or that either decided to quit the show suddenly.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and watch to find out what’s truly next for Eric and Nell. But until then, you can breathe easy that there’s no confirmation they are leaving.

Nell and Eric Are at the Center of NCIS Speculation

Not only are Nell and Eric’s futures on the show up in the air, there’s also speculation that this will be the last season of NCIS: LA. The show that began in 2009 is the first spinoff of NCIS.

Season 10 premiered in September 2018 and the finale is scheduled to air on May 19, 2019. (Fans will have to wait a week longer for episode 20. There won’t be an episode on April 7 on account of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards at 8:00 p.m. EST on CBS.)

After much speculation if there will be a season 11, CBS renewed NCIS: LA and New Orleans for another year in April 2019. While we now know the show isn’t going anywhere, the same can’t be said about NeRic yet. Additionally, the latest few episodes have been setting up not just Nell and Eric’s farewell, but other characters’ possible departures from the team, too.

The NCIS fandom was speculating that the show is ending with season 10 or they will see their favorite characters go, and they are taking it really hard. Twitterati are in tears at the possibility of bidding adieu to Nell and Eric and also the show.

But there are also other rumors circulating the cybersphere. Some believe another NCIS spinoff is in the works with some of our favorite characters.

There’s speculation (and hope) that there’s going to be a new show based in San Francisco, and that Nell and Eric will part of the team. But given that they are both close to quitting NCIS for a different future, it’s not clear how they would end up joining a new team.
