Everyone wants their wedding to be one of the most special days of their lives—and who better to take inspiration from than the bombastic celebrities that we love to hate and hate to love so much. With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tying the knot soon, wedding frenzy has become a palpable thing. Everyone is floundering for the best ideas to implement on their special day.

So, in order to mark the occasion, we’re featuring five of the craziest celebrity weddings ever!

1. Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are one of the hottest celebrity power couples in Hollywood, so it’s only fitting that their wedding was a deluxe affair. Since West proposed with a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring, people had been curiously awaiting the grand wedding, and nobody was disappointed in the least.

The wedding itself took place in Italy at the Forte di Belvedere back in May 2014, and it cost an estimated $2.8 million. Kardashian wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown, and the whole affair was planned by famed celebrity event planner, Sharon Sacks. Guests were flown from Paris to Florence via a private jet, and the whole grand affair was featured on special episodes of the hit reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. This celebrity wedding is at the top of the heap when it comes to magnificently over-the-top nuptials, and now you know why.

2. Russell Brand & Katy Perry

While their marriage was short-lived, Katy Perry and Russell Brand spared no expense on celebrating their wedding day. If you’re looking for a completely over-the-top affair, then look no further! The ceremony was held in India and relied heavily on Hindu and South Asian traditions. Perry and Brand both donned traditional Indian garb for their nuptials, and around 20 camels, two elephants—named Laxmi and Mala—and a number of horses were used during the wedding procession!

To make things more interesting, even the choice of music was largely Bollywood inspired, with bits and pieces of Vedic chanting and Rajasthani folk music. Guests were spoiled with shopping and safari trips. Now that’s one trippy and lavish wedding if we’ve ever seen one!

3. Chrissy Teigen & John Legend

When you think about celebrity relationship goals, then John Legend and Chrissy Teigen usually come to mind. The couple tied the knot in September 2013 in a romantic ceremony and Teigen wore a lavish Vera Wang gown on her special day. The ceremony took place in Lake Como, Italy, where Teigen once made a wish that Legend would be the man she’d marry and have children with! Following three outfit changes, she was serenaded by Legend and cry-danced to Queen Bey’s “Love on Top.” Dreams really do come true!

All the guests received gift boxes that contained Prosecco linen bags, and the cake was a multi-tiered confection that was the epitome of extravagant. This wedding was definitely one big, romantically luxurious affair fit for a “Legend!”

4. Celine Dion & René Angélil

Celine Dion and Rene Angélil were separated by a 26-year age gap, but their love was no less true. The “My Heart Will Go On” singer married her manager-turned-lover and fiancé on December 17, 1994, and the wedding was definitely one hugely grand affair. The extravagant ceremony took place in Montreal and was even broadcast live on Canadian television! It might have been the “royal” marriage of its time.

The highlight of the entire wedding was Dion herself, who wore a silk gown by Mirella and Steve Gentile. The dress had a whopping 20-foot train and was complemented by a giant Swarovski crystal tiara that had to be sewn onto Dion’s head (talk about beauty pains!). This wedding has definitely gone down in history as one of the grandest ones, and now you can see why.

5. Prince William & Kate Middleton

The story of Prince William and Kate Middleton is an especially beloved one—because where else can we live-watch a real prince marry a commoner in this day and age? And since the whole ceremony was broadcast live all over the world, everyone got to experience this very luxurious affair from their own home.

Since William and Kate are about to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary, let’s take a quick look back at their nuptials, a stunning royal celebration. From Kate’s enchanting Alexander McQueen wedding dress to the couple’s trip aboard the 1902 State Landau carriage along the processional route to Buckingham Palace, everything was publicized and commemorated. Kate first arrived at Westminster Abbey in a swanky Rolls-Royce “Phantom VI” and looked absolutely radiant with her huge smile and flushed cheeks. Kate’s nine-foot train and the beautiful hand-woven lace on her gown were especially admired, and her dress looked absolutely gorgeous in tandem with William’s red Irish Guards uniform. This wedding was definitely a global phenomenon, and it is one of the most romantic ones on our list!
