On Sunday July 19 at about 5:30 a.m., police were called to Demi Moore’s home in Los Angeles, where the body of a 21-year-old male was found in the deep end of the actress’ swimming pool. The man reportedly slipped and fell in, but didn’t know how to swim and accidentally drowned. He was in the pool for as long as 15 minutes before his body was discovered.
According to officials, there were five people present in the house when the incident occurred (one of whom was Moore’s assistant), but neither the actress nor her family was home at the time the body was found. The man is not a family member, but is believed to be a part of Moore’s household staff, which is probably why it was pretty easy for him to gain access to the pool.
As to whether or not the actress knew about the gathering at her home, nobody knows for sure. One neighbor told TMZ that Moore’s kids had been staying at the house over the past few weeks and were throwing “parties every day, day and night.” However, daughters Rumer and Tallulah both seem to be in New York, along with their mother.
Demi Moore has since released a statement expressing her shock about the “unthinkable tragedy,” adding, “My heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”
