Nothing gets moviegoers more excited than trailers. They’re the studio’s way of building anticipation and generating buzz for all of its releases, and they’re the first chance for fans to gain a little insight into what to expect.

This means trailers aren’t just important, they’re literally all fans have to go on to figure out whether they’ll enjoy the movie, other than whatever big-name actor is starring in the film. Studios are careful with what they include in the trailers, finding the right balance of storytelling with clips that engage viewers enough to make that trip to their local movie theater.

April saw a round of new trailers come out, and in most instances the excitement quickly followed. As the month comes to an end, we’ll go over the top seven movie trailers that have fans pumped for this year’s spring, summer, and even some late-year blockbusters.

Captain America: Civil War

Chris Evans is back as Captain America. The Cap is faced with choosing between his old best friend and his new best friends, the Avengers. The trailer shows the history of Captain America and the tear in the Avengers alliance that’ll be the feature of this film. A lot of expectations are on the shoulders of this franchise, which has been hugely successful with its previous adaptations. Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.

X-Men Apocalypse

The Apocalypse is coming—literally! In this latest installment of the X-Men series, the god-like mutant Apocalypse is coming to destroy the world. He’s recruited Magneto and three other powerful mutants to help him with his cleansing, and now Raven and Magneto must round up the power of the X-Men to stop them from their catastrophic mission. The trailer promises action and some pretty cool effects as this installment tries to top its predecessor, X-Men: Days of Future Past. X-Men: Apocalypse comes out on May 27, 2016.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

This is a real teaser that’s not scheduled to be released till December 16, 2016. The trailer gives us the standard Star Wars imagery, and sets Jen Erso (Felicity Jones) on a trek to find the Death Star, a weapon capable of mass destruction. Fans are generally excited about anything Star Wars related, and this is no different.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

J.K Rowling is back at it again, this time with a different type of story from the beloved wizarding world of Harry Potter. Director David Yates is showcasing more magic and more spells that will capture the imagination of audiences young and old from all over the world. If the trailer is any indication, it seems like viewers should get ready for another enchanting ride from one of the most celebrated storytellers of our time. This movie is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2016.

Suicide Squad

This movie looks like a lot of fun. Suicide Squad sets the bad guys as the stars, with big names like Will Smith and Jared Leto leading the fray. The trailer is full of explosions contrasted with timely comedic moments that will appeal to all ages. Not too much is given away as far as plot or storyline, other than the government letting some bad guys out on the loose to supposedly do something “good.” Not sure viewers will care much though. This is more about the thrills than anything else.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

We think a “cowabunga” is in order for this trailer. The turtles are back, and this time Casey Jones (Stephen Amell) is one the team with them. The trailer lets viewers know they can expect much of the same action from the first Turtles, with the typical cast of characters—including Splinter and Shredder—doing what heroes and bad guys do best. Looks like a good pick for just wanting to have a little fun for a couple hours without any serious paying attention to plot! Out of the Shadows is due out on June 3, 2016.
